It was early. Well, compared to the time most students woke up around here, it was early. There was hardly anybody around campus. He'd spotted a few joggers finishing up their runs or just starting them. They were the real early risers of the campus. He wasn't an early riser, not at all. He just hadn't slept yet. He'd forgotten how long he'd been up for. One day? Two days? Three? Hell if he knew. He just knew that he felt worn down and exhausted and he really wanted to take a nap but his thoughts wouldn't slow down long enough for him to fall asleep. He had been laying in his bed in his dorm, the lights off, the blinds clothes, arm across his eyes to block out any of the remaining light in the room from getting into his eyes and he still had been unable to fall asleep. He'd put music on and turned it up as loud as he could stand, but still the voices in his head screamed louder than any of the vocalists in the bands he listened to. With a sigh, the tall man rolled his shoulders and rubbed the back of his neck, blinking wearily as he looked around at the garden.
He didn't spend much time out here. Most of his time was spent holed up in his room with his music and his pills. That is, his medication. He wasn't a fan of drugs or pill popping. He'd tried it all before but he suffered from enough paranoia and delusions and hallucinations without the help of any substances. He smiled faintly at the thought, rubbing his eyes and yawning before giving his head a shake, sending his dreads flying around his face. He sighed once more, forcing himself not to yawn again, and turned down one of the paths that lead through the gardens. He wasn't too familiar with the layout of the place but he figured it couldn't be that difficult to find his way around, right? Well. If he could remember which way to turn once he was ready to head back to his dorm. He didn't have the best memory. In fact, he still got lost walking around campus... Great. This had been a terrible idea. He never should have come out here.
