He had arrived to his english class early only to find that the class had been cancelled so he had basically stayed up all night writing his paper for nothing. Feeling grumpy and exhausted, the teen dragged his feet as he made his way toward the library. Where else could he spend his free time? It wasn't like he had any friends to hang out with. He... never really did good with the whole "making friends" thing, even when he was younger. Hell, he hadn't had any friends when he was younger. And he wasn't planning on changing that anytime soon. He didn't trust people. People were out to get him. They would hurt him, steal from him, maybe even kill him. Think this, he looked around, narrowing his eyes as he peered into the shadows. So far, so good.
Making way to a table in the far right corner of the library near the religion section, Zach sighed and walked up to the bookcase. He traced his fingertips over the spines of the books, trying to find one that caught his eye. He had read quite a lot of the library's selection but after a moment of searching he saw one that looked interesting. It was titled "Understanding the Bible." He hummed softly, pushed a few of his blond dreads off of his face, and pulled the book from the shelf. It looked brand new. On the covered was the typical three crosses on a hill from the crucifiction of Jesus. One of them men was a thief and the other one was... he couldn't quite remember. Maybe another thief. He would have to reread that Bible story when he had the time. Maybe that's what he would write his next paper on, for his religion class. They were allowed to pick the topic that they wanted and everyone usually picked the same things - does God exist? Was Jesus a real person? Did good people actually go to hell just because they didn't believe in a sadistic God? Well, maybe not the last one. That was usually a topic that he would pick.
Sighing, he pulled out a chair and sat down at the table. He looked around nervously, listening to the calm stillness of the library. He could hear the whispering of study groups going on. He could hear the librarian flipping the pages of the book she was reading. If he concentrated hard enough, he could even hear his own heartbeat. Biting his lip, the tall teen opened up his own book and skimmed the contents to try and find an interesting part to begin reading. He came across a chapter titled Angels and Demons. Tracing his finger tip across the page to find the page number, he let out a tense sigh and once more looked around. He couldn't get rid of the feeling that he was being watched but again, he saw no one, so he turned his attention on to the book and began reading, sitting hunched over the book, his dreads falling onto the pages. He always tried to make himself as least noticeable as possible. He was typically made fun of for his fascination with religion but Zach didn't let it bother him. He knew how to handle himself in those situations. He could just start speaking Latin and freak the bullies out. It worked almost every time.
