It had been exactly a month since the loss of her baby, and yet, Imogen Brookes was coping well - as well as you could after carrying a baby inside of you and not being able to actually have it. Since the baby technically had a heart beat and she couldn't get scraped out she'd had to give birth to a baby who would never take its first breath, all in the company of her best friend Kyler. He hadn't been there while it all happened or anything but he'd been there before and afterwards, to pick up the broken pieces of her heart. Ant hadn't taken it well either, but he didn't dwell on it too long either. He was too busy with his new girl to be worried about what she did in her life. He didn't have to be with her anymore, there was nothing tying him down now that she'd lost the baby. He was free to do whatever he pleased, and if that was fucking some sophisticated redhead every night until his man part got sore than so be it. He was showing to be more and more like his cousin every day. The thoughts simmered away in her mind as she shimmied into a short romper and tied up the little cord on the small of her back.
Today was the day she had to venture off out of her dorm and hand in a lot of overdue papers to teachers who still weren't sure why she'd taken over 3 months of leave. Having cancer wasn't something she wanted to share with her professors, since the last thing she wanted was to become some kind of science experiment for all the wannabe scientists on campus. The trip to campus actually wasn't too far, and it felt nice to get out into the sun and feel the slight breeze flutter through her hair as her feet met pavement, walking the short distance towards campus, expecting to get a few weird looks from people who kept up with the gossip girl website that had kindly told the entire world that she was pregnant. Hopefully, word hadn't spread too fast about what had happened. Kyler might even be there today, which would be another interesting thing to encounter. Bringing up guys from her past was not something Imogen wanted to do today. She wanted to venture out for something new and exciting.
And for that, she'd need coffee. Luckily, campus was known for having some of the best up and coming baristas in San Fran. Most of them were weird and had more holes in their bodies than necessary and wore a lot of eye makeup - male or female, it didn't matter. Still, they made awesome coffee, so that would be her first destination there. Since she'd arrived almost 45 minutes in front of her schedule, she decided that a bit of relax time could be spared on campus. Offering a kind smile to a few people she'd been close to in class, she stepped into line, before noticing a head she could never forget. Freddie, the guy she'd been paired up at the start of the year in a few classes - the two had worked together on loads of projects, but he'd been doing all the work while she'd gone MIA. Figuring they were on a hugging basis and it would help her status in the line since he was only two from the front, the girl excused herself and wiggled in behind him, wrapping her arms around him from behind and giving him a gentle squeeze.
"Hands up! this is a stick up." She giggled, poking into his stomach playfully before looking forward towards the line. One from the front now, this is perfect! And since when was his stomach so defined? It was nice.
