If anything, tonight was going to be interesting. Not just because she was going on her first date in over 5 years, but because this date was with someone who actually meant something to her - a lot if she admitted it to herself. Tonight was either going to run fluidly like it had those many years ago and recently, just like the other night when she'd randomly appeared at his door step and demanded cuddles from him - she'd woken up to a beautiful letter and felt like her stomach was tied in knots over and over again - this girl was no scout or anything, but there was some kind of reef knot tying her stomach together, and the butterflies were doing anything but flutter around nicely, they were doing more kicking than anything. Her day had started out like this, and even as she stepped into the shower that night to wash away all of her nerves, she still couldn't comprehend how any of this was happening - she'd gotten a date with one of the most handsome men in San Francisco. Perhaps she was bias, but whatever.
The drizzle of hot water over her back seemed to be melting away all the dirt and grime from the morning of baking down stairs. Lin had been there most of the day, so she'd been up and down from her studio to the shop, keeping an eye on things incase her best friend needed her for anything - which was stupid, since Jay was completely capable of running the whole place by herself - another case of Luci caring way too much for people who didn't need her help. Mother hen had been on the loose that whole day, and by the time stores closed, Jorlin was shoving her upstairs to get ready for the infamous date she hadn't stopped talking about all day. It was like high school all over again - the kids in the play ground talking all about her and Mark, what they were getting up to and such. It was boring really, how people spoke about others as if it were a TV sitcom. Luci never let herself get caught up in those stupid rumour mills, it was much easier just to stick close with her friends than to be caught up in everyone elses dramas.
Stepping out of the shower and rolling her hair up in a towel so it would dry quicker, she moisturised and pulled all of the knots out of her hair to make it more manageable when she started styling it for the occasion. It wasn't difficult to pick out an outfit for the night, she'd organised it way in advance to avoid any of those pre-date break downs from happening because she couldn't find a nice enough dress to put on. Slipping on her dress and zipping it up from the side, she looked at her slight frame in the mirror and smiled, knowing that she was putting a rather big amount of effort for the night, mostly just because dressing up was something that 'zen-ed' her out from the chaos in her brain. Getting all dolled up was something that relaxed her from the inevitable event she was getting ready for. Looking at the clock on the wall for a bit of an outlook of how much time she had left, she smiled again - she was using her time well considering!
Once she applied her makeup and styled her hair, she was ready! Slipping on her shoes and taking one more look in the mirror, red lips spread into a grin of sorts, knowing she looked killer as she turned in the mirror, sighing happily at the outcome of everything. She'd even absorbed some sun from the past few days, and her legs were glowing. Stepping out to her car, she made her way to Mark's house, hoping he wasn't still dancing around in his underwear or something or she'd soon be joining him and the two would probably ditch the date and watch movies all night - she hadn't gone to all this trouble for nothing, and if she had to drag this man out by the feet, she would.
Turning the corner and driving up the short way to the front of his house in her baby pink car, she smiled, heels clicking as she headed towards the door, knocking lightly on the wood. Looking to the time on her phone, she'd shown up 5 minutes early to designated pick-up time. Although Mark was under the impression that he was driving, she wondered how he'd feel about driving her masculine pink babe magnet of a car down town. It would truly be a sight to behold.
