Nora had woken up early and had been unable to fall back to sleep, which was quite uncharacteristic of her. So, she decided to spend her extra time doing something she actually enjoyed. So, after two cups of coffee, a shower, plenty of time to pamper herself and get dressed, she headed out into the city for some shopping. Like most teenaged girls, she loved going to the mall and getting new clothes and accessories, however, she had never really enjoyed going with a group of girls. Sometimes one or two friends, but she didn’t like waiting around for other people, she did like trying things on and getting opinions, but she didn’t like when shopping trips turned into a huge fashion show. Most of all, she didn’t dress like most other girls her age, her quirky fashion sense sometimes made other girls squeamish, though later on they’d always tell her that they were wrong and that only she could possibly pull it off. For that purpose, Nora had always liked to have a male shopping companion, they shopped more alike most of the time. Simple and to the point, they knew what they liked and didn’t like, though now and then opinions were necessary.
Today, though, she felt it would be more of a self day. To spend time and money on herself rather to fill some obligation. L’amour de Soi. As she strolled into the mall, she instantly felt a sense of belonging and comfort. No matter which shopping establishment you walked into you could always expect the same thing. The smell of new clothes in the department stores, mouthwatering aromas from the food court, and spicy scents in all the open areas where they sold cinnamon pastries, hot pretzels, coffee, perfume, incense, and candles. There was the constant background chatter and laughter and the light pop tunes that played incessantly at just the right volume to hum along. It was almost therapeutic to the girl.
After making her way up and down both the South and East wings of the mall, hitting all the regular stores, Nora’s stomach began to grumble and she made her way back to the center of the mall, taking an escalator up to the second floor where the food court was. She liked eating there because you got a birds eye view of all the hustle and bustle of the shoppers below; a perfect arena for people watching.
Glancing around once she got to the top, she took in careful consideration of what she was going to eat and found herself at a loss, deciding to look at the lines instead for something short so she wouldn’t have to wait as long. ”Hello…” she murmured under her breath, not because she spotted a short line, but because she spotted a boy that happened to catch her eye among the crowd. Smirking a bit to herself she marched over and stood behind him in line. For a few minutes, she studied his backside. He seemed fit, nice hair, cute butt. That’s when she glanced up at the sign of the vendor. Hot dog on a stick? Okay, not the pickiest eater, but Nora was adventurous and thought a corn dog would be just filling enough so that she would not be too overfed for the remainder of her shopping outing.
Nora had never picked up a man at the mall before, but she assumed it would be as simple as picking them up anywhere else and this one appeared to be alone and unsuspecting. Shifting her things when they were only a few patrons back from the counter, she took a step closer sending her hip, purposefully, into her bags and right into that cute butt of his with a small amount of force. Immediately, she began to apologize, “Oh, I’m sorry, I wasn’t paying attention…” placing a hand gently on his back between his shoulder blades as if hoping to make sure that he was okay. “I’m really sorry. You alright?”
