“Ugh...seriously?” Des looked at the screen of the TV and shook his head before looking over at Jonah with a scowl, picking up the bong sitting between them and taking a hit. “I’m really not even sure why I still invite you over to play video games…” he groaned. Jonah was pretty much unbeatable when it came to video games. He was, afterall, majoring in the designing and testing of video games. That’s why he’d been away all summer, already going to conventions as a top gamer to test video games and compete.
“Okay, let’s go again,” he suggested turning back, fumbling with the controller for a re-match. It didn’t take long before Jonah seamlessly had him backed into a corner again with no escape for his pixelated avatar. “Alright, alright you win…” he groaned, dropping his controller and putting his hands up in surrender. Freddie was the competitor he was used to and he wished that the guy was there now to at least give him some hope at beating someone. Who knows what trouble the younger McCormack was getting himself into.
Ah, just in the nick of time, the bell went off, signaling that someone had entered the shop. Smiling to himself, he glanced toward the stairs, “I gotta check if that’s Molly or a customer…” he told his counterpart. He was a part of Molly’s plan to try and hook-up Devyn and Jonah. Devyn was Molly’s roommate and they had always been pretty good friends and Jonah was starting to show up at the shop more and more if only to play video games or mess around on the beach. Neither of them seemed to have much of a love life lately and, frankly, they seemed perfect for one another. He was told to keep Jonah at the shop no matter what the circumstance and Molly would bring Devyn, and just like that they could introduce them without all the stress of a set-up or blind date.
Just as he was about to run down the stairs, he heard Molly yelling up to him with the promise of grub and he waved Jonah along, “Come on, there’s food.”
