Being something of a loner by nature Jace had to admit that the concept of having someone around that he actually considered a friend was still fairly new to him. Especially a female one at that. Not that he was one of those people that believed a strictly platonic relationship with someone of the opposite sex was impossible, but rather that most of the women that he encountered weren't exactly interested in his friendship. A fact that hadn't ever really bothered him as it seemed to be mutually beneficial to both parties involved. In Luci's case however, it was exceedingly difficult for the twenty two year old to view her as anything other than a friend and he'd be willing to speculate that the woman's personality played a big part in his assessment.
Right from the start there had just been something about her that struck him as familiar. It would take several weeks before he was finally able to pinpoint exactly what it was about the adorable baker that he found so endearing. She reminded him of Serena...quite a bit actually. It was a curious thing spending time with someone who was undoubtedly attractive, but that you weren't attracted to. On several occasions an associate of his had remarked on her beauty and even made a few quips about why he hadn't pursued a physical relationship with her.
To a degree a bit of crudity was expected amongst the group that he interacted regularly with, but it only bothered him when speaking about a close female friend of his. Luci hadn't been expecting his visit, it had been his intention to surprise her and hopefully persuade her to have lunch with him. A good mood was a rarity for the eldest Fitzgerald and he felt as if he should take full advantage of it. Besides that, he was in the neighborhood so why not? Luci owned what he'd heard was a relatively popular bakery.
Not being one much for sweets, he hadn't ever really sampled any of the shop's delicacies and thus merely took those who were a bit more familiar with sugary confections at their word. Despite his indifference to sweets, Jace had to admit that the tantalizing aroma that tickled his nostrils as he pulled open the door was rather appealing. There was only a handful of people in the small store creating an easy path for the young man to head straight to the counter. Jace wouldn't exactly say that he frequented the store, but he had been there enough times to recognize most of the employees there. However the petite brunette that was stocking the stands was unfamiliar to him.
Nevertheless, he approached the young woman and inquired as to where he might find Luci. Somehow in his grand scheme of scooping up his friend and treating her to lunch it hadn't occurred to him that she wouldn't be there. Now mentally reorganizing his plans for the day, Jace does an about face colliding with something soft. To his surprise the handsome twenty year old found himself standing in front of a cute girl with layered platinum blond hair and large glacial orbs. There was something rather angelic about the girl's facial features and Jace could feel a smile creeping across his face as he said "My bad ma, I didn't even see you there."[/b][/size]
